V.League will not allow players to print nicknames on their shirts from the 2026/27 season

Paulinho and Vitão - the last two "nickname defenses" in V.League 1 - have officially been "blown the whistle" and switched to printing their real names.

Specifically, in the implementation guidelines for the Charter of the 2026/27 National Professional Leagues, the VPF clearly stipulates that the name on the kit must be chosen from the registered name and nicknames must not be used. This is one of the most notable new points regarding the kit regulations this season.

This regulation forces many foreign players - especially Brazilian players who are used to using nicknames - to switch to printing their real names on their kits:

- LUCÃO -> LUCAS (Lucas Vinícius)
- Daniel PASSIRA -> DANIEL (Daniel Floro da Silva; Passira is actually his hometown)
- LUIZÃO -> L. GUILHERME (Luiz Guilherme Vieira da Silva)

In the 5th round, two Brazilian foreign players of Bắc Ninh and Thể Công - Viettel, namely Vitão (Vítor Hugo Rosa Nascimento) and Paulinho (Paulo Tadeu Viana Martins), had to switch from printing their nicknames to their real names according to the tournament's new regulations. This regulation is currently facing much opposition from spectators and fans, as many opinions argue that nicknames are what make the players' own brand.
